Fragrance Series: Citrus Scents

A citrus scent will brighten your day

Gone are the days when a woman is expected to have a signature scent. These days, we’re more likely to treat fragrance like an accessory. But did you ever think that having so many choices could lead to some fragrance confusion? To keep you from getting overwhelmed by everything out there, this is the beginning of a series on the different types of fragrances with suggestions for where and when to wear each one.

Today we’re going to start with Citrus Fragrances.

Citrus fragrances are infused with the tangy essence of citrus fruits. That makes these kinds of fragrances extremely lively and energetic. It’s best to enjoy these types of perfumes in the daytime—they’re the perfect thing to wake you up in the morning! (They might even keep you from needing that second cup of coffee.) Where should you wear a citrus perfume? Wear it to brunch with your girlfriends, to a baby shower, or to ride your bicycle down to the market. Anything light, fun, and breezy should work!

We have several citrus fragrances here at LONDONS Bathecary. To name just a few:

What are your favorite citrus fragrances?

Stay tuned for more fragrance updates!

Choosing a Fragrance

Choosing the right fragrance will make you feel beautiful

Creating the perfect scent for a particular occasion is important. Just as you choose different styles of clothing for different occasions, you should have a wardrobe of fragrances to match! When you choose your fragrances from LONDONS Bathecary, you can rest assured that you’ll have the perfect solution for every event in your life.

Deciding which perfume to wear has a lot to do with your personal preference and mood. We’ve talked to a lot of fragrance-fanatics, and we have a few tried-and-true methods that you’ll surely find useful for selecting the right fragrance for any occasion.

Fragrance Tips

  • What do you wear to the office? We suggest a light and fresh floral scent or something with citrus notes. A light and sophisticated perfume will be ideal for everyday and office wear. Try to avoid heavy and seductive perfumes—they just don’t seem as professional.
  • If you’re going to an evening party, you can be a little more daring! Experiment with perfumes that have heavier scents like musk and spice.
  • When you’re feeling a little romantic, you can express your sensual side with a woody perfume.
  • For a wedding or other special function, choose a sophisticated and romantic floral scent.

What are your favorite LONDONS Bathecary fragrances for different occasions? We’d love to hear your feedback.

Woods of Windsor from LONDONS Bathecary

Enjoy this classic men's fragrance

Here at LONDONS Bathecary, we have wonderful Woods of Windsor grooming products for both men and women. Our men’s collection is based on their signature cologne—it’s inspired by Spanish orange groves and spices. You’ll also notice citrus notes of lemon, orange, and bergamot… with subtle hints of nutmeg and clove. The warm base notes of oakmoss and patchouli finish the fragrance. Woods of Windsor is a wonderful English company with a rich history.

The name “Woods of Windsor” comes from a small apothecary that was located in the shadow of Windsor Castle. The local apothecary served the townsfolk of Windsor as well as the Royal family and its visitors. Time had all but forgotten the apothecary until renovations were being done on the building in the 1970s. They found a stockpile of old texts, prescription books, and other artifacts. Among these artifacts was a collection of historic fragrance recipes from the original Woods of Windsor. Upon that discovery, the company was revived.

Woods of Windsor launched its first gentlemen’s collection in 1981. We’re proud to have that wonderful gentlemen’s collection as well as the classic feminine fragrances here at LONDONS Bathecary.

British Culture from LONDONS Bathecary

Appreciate the finer things of British culture

We’re glad you enjoy our fine British fragrances here at LONDONS Bathecary. We suggest you take the full experience and immerse yourself in British culture! It’s quite interesting and (who knows?) you might end up taking a wonderful trip to England at some point. Here’s a quick look at some British customs that you can incorporate into your own life.

The British have been known for many different food customs—from tea time to English breakfast. Some of these customs are connected with different ethnic groups, religious influences, and other regional or family traditions. With every new group of people that the British encountered, foods and customs were added and altered.

Pies are a large part of the traditional British menu. They can be filled with many different things. Pies tend to be classified into categories: savory (meats) or sweet (fruits or nuts).

Tea time

Tea time is actually the last meal of the day. The British have a morning meal called breakfast, a mid-day meal called lunch or dinner, and tea. Tea time usually consists of tea and lighter foods like cakes, sandwiches, toast, cheese, savories, and biscuits.

How do you incorporate British food culture into your life? We enjoy relaxing with a spot of tea in the evenings. It’s just one of the many perks to a life enhanced by LONDONS Bathecary!

If you will be using a glass pie plate, preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. If you are using any other type of pie plate, heat it to 450 degrees F.

You will need:

  • ½ cup of bacon dripping
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 well-beaten egg
  • ½ cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Combine the well-beaten egg and the milk. Beat this until it is light. Then gradually beat in the sifted flour and salt. Beat this with a dover beater until it is smooth. Let this stand for thirty minutes.

Put the bacon dripping into an 8”x8” pan. Heat it in the oven. Make sure you watch the pan—you don’t want it to begin to smoke! Pour the batter into the hot pan and bake in the oven until it is done. Check on it in about 10-15 minutes.

Enjoy this fine British food!

Wearing the Right Amount of Perfume

Is your perfume giving them a headache?

How much perfume is too much? We believe that perfume should be used as a small accent in an effort to compliment your look—but there are many women out there that tend to overdo it by spraying too much perfume. Knowing when “enough is enough” is key to wearing any of our fragrances gracefully.

Spray your key points

Many women feel the need to cover themselves in perfume—spraying their clothing as well as their skin. If you tend to spray perfume haphazardly, then the chances are that you are using too much. To avoid this, spray the key locations on your body. Key locations are behind the ears, on your neck, and on your wrists. Start off by spraying only one key point at a time. Spraying multiple key points can result in an overpowering scent.

The key points are ideal for perfume because they’re above major veins that pump blood through your body. The pumping action also pumps the perfume—so you don’t really need to spray anywhere else. The key is to create a delicate scent.

How do people react?

Many times, people are unaware that they’re using too much perfume. Try gauging people’s reactions. Usually when perfume smells too strong, people will lean back to try to avoid the aroma.

The fragrances here at LONDONS Bathecary are beautiful when worn properly—in delicate moderation.
